Brighton family photography on the beachfront

Brighton Family Photography

What a great day I had at Brighton Beach Front meeting and photographing the Lee family from Glynde. These guys were up for fun, races and loads of laughs! Mum Sarah got in touch about organising some Brighton Family Photography with her gorgeous family – hubby Jason and lovely kids Ellie 9, Finley 7 and Izzy 4. They loved the idea of a Brighton beachfront photoshoot and really keen on the idea of unposed and natural photos. The family live in Glynde and described themselves as adventurous! The kids loved swimming and kayaking and their 6th family member was Duke the Jack Russel. (But Sarah thought it might be best to let him stay at home for this shoot)!

What do you love most about your family?

Sarah had told me when I put the impossible question to her about what she loved most about her family

“Too many things to choose from. I love that we can always have fun wherever we are whether we are in the middle of a field or a rainy day indoors. I love that we all have very different characters yet we fit together perfectly (most of the time 😂) I love how affectionate and loving we all are”!

Best family photos

I think the best way to capture beautiful images of a family together is to make it real. I am not into studio settings or harsh lights or posed photographs. The best images I’ve always found are always the ones which are real and authentic. Where the family is just having fun throwing a ball around, or playing chase on the beach or telling stories to each other. This way I capture real, natural expressions plus you guys have great fun in the process!

Brighton Family Photography

We met at the Peace statue and after chatting for abit and getting to know the kids we set off for a stroll and race along the beach. My photoshoots are always very fluid. It’s great to see what the family like to do and these guys were very happy to start off being aeroplanes on the beach! We played some games and got the kids talking so they forgot the camera was there. My old teacher skills certainly come in handy when it comes to getting the kids involved and getting some lovely expressions from them.

It’s good to know I still have the ability to get kids to do stuff that I suggest….like jumping, tag, throwing a ball. I take that side of things away from Mum and Dad and come up with things for the kids to do and ways to keep them active for the couple hour shoot.

Unposed Fun Family Frolics!

I was super happy with the great fun vibe from the Lees. The kids had a great play for a couple of hours and Sarah and Jason relaxed too and we captured some great family moments for them.

Most embarrassing family moment!

I was ready primed for the Lee Family and knew they would be keen to give anything a go! … when chatting to Sarah during our pre-shoot phone call she told me about her most embarrassing moment with the family. During a day at the beach, they were all swept out of a dingy near the shore when a huge wave came and wiped everyone off the boat. She felt super embarrassed having to rescue all the kids out of the water!

We decided to leave any boat action out of this shoot!!
