Unposed Natural Photography

Fun day out with the Lucas’

It was so great to meet the Lucas family from Haywards Heath (Emily and Phil and Ben 6 and Ellie 3) for their fun-loving family photoshoot. I much prefer family photography that is unposed natural photography in style. I never work in a studio always outdoors au natural for me! I couldn’t think of anything worse than having everyone jammed in a studio under harsh lights trying to “act” natural, with forced smiles and stiff poses. Take it outside! Being outside is great – it gives the kids a chance to blow off some energy and actually really enjoy the experience. I absolutely love meeting families that have the same love of the outdoors as I do!

We decided on Stanmer Park as it was a favourite of theirs and mine! It’s a great choice as there are heaps of different places to explore and photograph at Stanmer. It is so vast we didn’t even make it to the Manor House. Those little legs were tired out with all the running, rugby, log climbing and jumping!

Unposed, natural photography

Emily and Phil loved the sound of unposed, natural photography when we had chatted prior to the photoshoot. I explained that most of the time I don’t even take photos with people looking at the camera. I love the more natural and unposed look. To me its important that the resulting images are authentic, real and show character.

Sport rather than video games!

Emily had already told me the family loves the outdoors and natural world – no video games for them! They had described one of their most embarrassing moments with the kids being when Ben (a baby at the time) had pooed on Phil at Batemans National Trust House! Wowzers I hope you had those wet wipes Phil!!

Ben turned out to be a great kid, full of beans and life and along with little sister Ellie very handy with the rugby ball!

We started on the lovely green open meadows and moved on up into the woods. Ben and Ellie were gorgeous live wires and on the go the whole time. We had plenty of games up our sleeves to keep them happy.

What a lovely morning spent with you guys. The images look great…loads of happy memories to look back on.
